Personal Rapid Transit For Microsoft? You Prove it!!!
06.23.05 (2:02 pm)   [edit]
I like this comment from the previous post:

PRT punk [outside user] Tuesday 06.21.05 [9:41 am]

What do you care? You don't even live in Redmond. And since this is a private campus, no public money would be used. I thought what upset you is that public money would fund what you see as "bogus".

Wouldn't this be the perfect situation for your position? A private corporation gets to be the guinea-pig for the public, forever proving PRT's bogushood went it inevitiably flops. And judging from your left-wing politics, won't it be great that nasty ol' monopolist Microsoft gets "flim-flamed" itself for a change?

No, I think what you're really afraid of is that it will succeed. For whatever reason you seem to want LRT everwhere with no alternative and PRT is therefore a threat precisely because it will be so effective.

I really doubt that this "project "will get more than a glance from Bill Gates. Like the rumored PRT project in Dubai, this stuff is meant to impress the suckers - investors and politicians. A savvy investor would ask to see the Taxi 2000 "Risk Factors" document filed with the State of MInnesota. The Risk Factors document clearly states that the headway problem is a problem that no technology can fix...instead Taxi 2000 suggests lobbying for a change in ASCE guidelines for automated transit... fat chance. No professional engineer is going to sign off on a change on safe stopping distances that will kill or injure passengers.

Like the Dubai rumor, I am waiting for some proof that Microsoft is really serious about this proposal.

To what kind of Risk Factors document are you referring? Would you mind posting the entire passage upon which you are basing your headway claim?

David Gow:

"Would you mind posting the entire passage upon which you are basing your headway claim?"

Avidor: Taxi 2000 Corporation's Risk Factors document. Ask Taxi 2000 for a copy to post on your website.

I'm sure they have lots of documents on investment risk. What are you looking at, something specifically created for the state, or a general prospectus for investors?

Come on Ken, just post the relevant passage. An admission that "the headway problem is a problem that no technology can fix" couldn't take long to type.

I bet you Kenny-boy can't post it, because he made it up.

"Kenny-boy"?

Just for that, you'll have to get your own copy from the Minnesota Dept. of Commerce (Reg D offerings).

Crap, it's like a hostage negotiation. Ignore Don for the moment and let's have the discussion HERE. Stop being coy, post the excerpt, either you have it or you don't.

Obviously there are no "headway" risks to PRT since there is no PRT!

Imaginary systems always work in the happy shiny world of the Jetson's.

Oops I am late for work, must get my Personal Jet Pack and fly downtown....

Say, would you be the Risk Factor Ken's been talking about?

Now THAT'S comedy! Gold, I'm giving you here, GOLD!
