PRTers have a history of intimidating behavior. This is from a post on the GPM List: Feb 27, 2004
"Finally, I was appalled by Ed Anderson's behavior towards me personally at one point. When I suggested that one of his responses was disingenuous, he approached me and began shouting, nearly screaming, in my face. I seriously considered the possibility he was going to attack me physically. Frankly, this only reinforced my impression of the PRT movement as cult-like. You're either with 'em or you're the enemy."
If anything happens to me, reporters and law enforcement will know where to look for suspects.

The price of regular at the local BP gas station is $2.99.9 a gallon. The Cheap Oil Age is gone and now we are faced with ever decreasing production of petroleum and increasing demand.
Americans will have to become less dependant on petroleum.... fast. They will have to walk and ride bikes. They will have to take trains and buses.
Americans don't have time for Gadgetban-Pie-in-the-Sky- By-And-By ideas like PRT.
Americans will have to get real about transportation.

Experimental PRT cars use an automated network of elevated tracks to carry two to four passengers at a time to their desired destination."

I wonder who this article means by "the creators" of PRT... is it Morrie's Taxi 2000 or Ed's PRT International?
And what happened with Taxi 2000 and Dubai?

Yecke's withdrawal leaves four candidates seeking the Republican endorsement for the congressional seat. Veteran political observers said her departure would probably be a plus for Sen. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, who won't have to compete with Yecke for the votes of social-conservative Republicans.
There's now a better chance that Bachmann will be elected to congress. Michele Bachmann has been a major promoter of PRT. She's authored PRT bills and raved about PRT to the press http://news.minnesota.publicr...
Supporters range from Minneapolis City Council member Dean Zimmerman, a Green Party member, to Republican Sen. Michelle Bachmann of Stillwater. Bachmann says personal rapid transit, like many political issues, creates strange bedfellows.
"People on the right, people on the left, we have the common goal of moving people with transit, but doing it in the most cost-effective manner, in fact, in a manner that may end up costing no government subsidy, it may end up paying for itself," she says.
A lot has changed since that interview in April, 2004.

I hope the news media questions Michele Bachmann whether she will continue to oppose increased funding for transit and bring her support for highway expansion and bogus PRT to the nation's capitol at a time when the price of oil continues to go up and up.

Just recently I read an article outlining our District 16B state representative candidate’s list of priorities. I found it particularly interesting that Rep. Mark Olson is now saying that he has never supported Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) as an option in place of the Northstar Corridor. He is now saying his support for PRT is to replace buses in the metropolitan area!
This surprised me, since I served in the Legislature with Rep. Olson for eight years where I listened to him consistently debate and argue in favor of PRT in place of the Northstar. I also sat through numerous debates with Mark and not once did he mention it as a replacement system for metro transit. While campaigning during our 2002 race, I talked to people in our district that understood Rep. Olson was proposing PRT to serve our area.
While I am very pleased that Mark Olson has finally realized what all of us who intently studied this issue knew: that PRT is for metropolitan congestion areas. I am distressed that it took him 12 years of representing us to figure this out. No matter what position you may hold on this important transit issue, Mr. Olson’s new claim that this was his consistent position should alarm you.
I prefer an effective voice in the Legislature, representing the needs of our district. A person that knows how to build coalitions with other legislators to get things done. I think we should expect better results after 12 years. That is why I am voting for Jim Huhtala for state representative on Nov. 2.—Leslie Schumacher, Santiago http://www.erstarnews.com/200...

Many women have a stash of memories of high school romances to look back on, images that can still fill the stomach with a tingling of excitement. And while most of us hope that young women remember their first explorations of sexuality without an aftertaste of fear and guilt, state Rep. Mark Olson (R) of Big Lake has another vision in mind: a new breed of modest teens who wouldn’t dream of physical intimacy before marriage.
Speaking recently at a House Education Policy Committee meeting, in support of a bill promoting an abstinence-only education curriculum, Olson, the vice chair of the committee, stunned onlookers with comments about the importance of protecting a woman’s modesty. Olson later told MWP: “A woman’s modesty is her natural protection. … Some sex education encourages touching and intimacy. They need to protect their purity.”
Olson expressed fear that young women who are taught to safely enjoy their sexuality will become insatiable sexual monsters. “It leads young ladies to be very free with their bodies,” he said. “They will be harmed permanently for life. Some people believe that a young woman can grow up and have sex with hundreds and hundreds of men and it’s no big deal.”
